A bit about Beth

In a nutshell, I’m a single parent with a treadmill in my garage and two kids still in primary school.

My background is in journalism, before having kids it took me all over the world until I had my first child in 2016. Late nights of breaking news just weren’t compatible with family life so I retrained in digital marketing and have been doing that since 2018, which is how I discovered Bev and Badass!

I’ve been running on and off since school but only really got into it after I went back to work after maternity leave in 2017. I’ve been following BAMR since the early days so it is a massive honour to take the reins, this community means so much to me. It helps keep me going and reminds me I don’t have to be fast, just to put one foot in front of the other, which is a pretty good metaphor for life (especially with what feels like constant injuries as I’m getting older).

Helen and I grew up in the same street in the West Midlands, I’m 7 months older and have known her longer than my own sister. We’ve been best friends for most of that time, even though we now live hundreds of miles apart, her in Cardiff, me in Sussex, we speak every week while we both run. The Sunday/Runday calls started during the pandemic and just never stopped, we’ll call each other if we’re on holiday, camping, wherever we happen to be! Like all besties, we bring out the best and worst in each other, we egg each other on, from running an ultramarathon to now, taking over Badass Mother Runners. Did I say best and worst? Actually I meant best and badass!
