Red January Part 2!

Beth

Day 8, absolute classic, I’ve nailed the first 7 days of RED January and when it comes to taking over the blog today I just want a day off! I did the Joe Wicks 5 minute exercise on Cbeebies at 8.30am as that’s helping my kids get pumped for school but lets see what else I manage, does housework count? I have a laptop-heavy day today so I do a stretching session later, I’m about to embark on a garage conversion so this weekend will be full of manual labour, which will definitely count!

Day 9 -as predicted I spent the morning sorting out my garage, a trip to the recycling centre and B&Q and I had already hit my step count for the day. I still didn't feel like I had done any intentional movement though so just before bed I did some yoga and stretching for sleep which was lovely and calming, I also slept like a log, which is rare so I may try this again.

Day 10 - today was more garage work, 2 hours emptying the garage into a giant tent, my quads, back and shoulders hurt but I’m also at the start of training for an ultramarathon in the Summer so I went out for the world’s slowest run, it’s was sunny and absolutely beautiful, so well worth it.

Day 11 - everything aches after yesterday. I also worked an overnight shift that started at 2am so the last thing I wanted to do was move my body. I know stretching will help though so I found a 15 minute stretching video from Yoga with Adriene and did that in the early evening. My children joined in so that set us up for bedtime. (Not that either was asleep before 10pm, on a Sunday, eye roll!)

Day 12 - strength day! The professionals have taken over the garage work and I have another laptop-heavy day so I paused for some stretch breaks and then did a short (always!) strength session I found on youtube in the evening, yet again accompanied by the kids.

Day 13 - Soaking wet run! Yep, I went out in the driving rain and got soaked to my skin, the reason I managed it get out is 50/50 between Red January and week 2 of ultra training. Thank goodness for both, although I was wiped afterwards.

Day 14 - had a glorious cold dip in the sea. I am extremely lucky to live 10 minutes drive from the beach and have made some bonkers friends who sea dip with me all year round, this is my second year doing it. Bliss!

Helen takes over for the next week, I hope I am still motivated for week 4!
